ALDH2/rs671 PCR Kit
Example of a 2-allele single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). ALDH2 codes for an enzyme on the breakdown pathway for ethyl alcohol, with the two SNPs generating enzyme isoforms with different kinetic rates. Homozygous "slow" metabolizers demonstrate the "Asian Blush" phenotype in response to drinking alcohol. A great example of how a SNP influences enzyme kinetics and phenotype.
